Paving The Way To The Present

We have moved a lot over the years. In chatting to my 9 year old, we counted he has lived in 6 houses over his lifetime. With our 6 year old having lived in 4. This was not planned it just, happened.

Our latest move having gone from Oamaru to Cromwell. This house I can imagine being a forever home, however track records to go by, anything is possible.

Oamaru was our base for 6 years and in that first year our home staging business was born. Along with the birth of our youngest. Being a mum and trying to find a job that fits into a lifestyle I desired wasn't easy, it seemed easier at the time to create my own lifestyle and flexibility.

And so Home Staging Waitaki was born. It began with an idea, a business plan and winging it as we went. I say we but my husband wasn't on board at first, so I really mean me. Six months later and a few (few meaning quite a few) purchases later, we launched our business.

We completed our first stage. It wasn't great but it was a great starting point and learning curve. The house sold instantly and for well above asking. We then hit covid lock down. It was less than ideal but a good time to reflect and improve.

Once out of lockdown things moved rather slowly. Or not at all. My husband having had his reservations said maybe it was time to call it a day. However, I was determined to make it work. The following month we had 3 enquires within a week, and I just knew this was what we needed. And also knew my gut was right.

One day I remember our youngest picking up everything in the living and dining room and putting in on the deck outside while I calmly placed everything back inside once I had turned my back they were straight back on the deck. Ahhhh what a fun game.

Throughout challenges including, juggling kids, pick up times, staff, late nights, sometimes until 2am staging and many, many "please don't touch anything", "don't touch the beds I've just steamed them" to my children. Nearly 5 years on, consistent growth every year, many challenges and learning moments we were in a position to sell the business and make the move to Central Otago to be closer to family.

Leading me to right now. Following my dreams of a step into the Fashion Industry, accessories to be exact. Taking the past lessons to the present and future. Welcome to right now and the birth of Sydney George.
